Why George Clooney Chose to Have Eyelid Surgery

In 2006, George Clooney was named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” – for the second time.  No stranger to Plastic Surgery, he admitted undergoing Blepharoplasty; Eyelid Surgery designed to remove excess fat with skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids.  In his late 40s and with a career showing no signs of waning, Clooney felt it was important that he not look fatigued.

Age and heredity can be contributing factors to eyelid skin stretching, muscle weakness and the prominence of fat pockets.  With the reconstruction of eyelids and removal of excess skin, many find their youthful appearance restored, and improved visual function and quality of life.  Some reasons for Blepharoplasty include:

·      Visual field impairment; which can affect work-related safety

·      Forehead discomfort from overused muscles that strain to lift sagging skin in eyelid are

·      Difficulty wearing glasses or lenses

·      Irritation from excess folds of eyelid skin rubbing together

Ali Wentworth, comedian and wife of Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos, also had the procedure done.  The “bags” under her eyes were a constant aggravation and she decided to have the procedure under the public eye.  Although bemused by the comments the public made to continue with more surgeries, overall, it was one of the best decisions she ever made.  If you believe this is something you should consider, contact Eyelid Surgery expert Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj.
